The problem I have chosen to address for my doctoral research is fixing the mechanism of discipleship that develops true worshipers for the purpose of offering God acceptable worship. The purpose of this post is to establish biblical precedence of spiritual formation, as taught by Jesus and the Apostle Paul, who imitated the model of Jesus.

 

Scripture Foundation For Argument
John 8: 31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then
are ye my disciples indeed; 32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Philippians 4:9 Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

Roamsn 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

 

Commentary

The assumption I purport in this post is Jesus formed or developed human beings through the process of disicpleship. Paul continued this practice to comply to the command of Jesus found in “The Great Commission”. The process of discipleship or spiritual formation included the communication, explanation, demonstration and application of God’s Word. What say ye? Support all counter arguments with scripture.
