In this segment of our analysis of the Old Testament, we will examine Psalm 100. For centuries the institutionalized church has shared in an ongoing debate relative to the necessary components of corporate worship. In this post, it is my objective to defend an assumption that is free of denominational and cultural bias. The can be accomplished through a serious analysis of what GOD says about corporate worship. The single assumption for this post is, Psalm 100 contains all essential components for corporate worship. Let’s examine and outline the text. Everything we do in corporate worship should fall under one of the outlined categories.

Psalm 100

Psalm 100:”1 Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. 2 Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing. 3 Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. 4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. 5 For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations”.

I.  The first essential component of corporate worship is an acknowledgment of God

    A. The Lord Is God

    B. The Lord is Creator

    C. The Lord is Relational

         1. We are His people

         2. We are His sheep

    D. The Lord Is Good

         1. His mercy is everlasting

         2. His truth is everlasting

II.   The second essential component of corporate worship is thanksgiving

          1. Thank God

.        2. Bless God

III.  The third essential component of corporate worship is praise

      A. Prioritize joyful noise

      B. Prioritize glad service

      C. Prioritize sacred singing
